Winda-Mara Aboriginal Corporation (WMAC)
Winda-Mara Aboriginal Corporation is based in Heywood and Hamilton on Gunditjmara Country. It provides a range of family, community, health and cultural support and services to the Aboriginal community in South West Victoria. Winda-Mara staff work with the local Aboriginal community under the principle of Aboriginal Self Determination and use a cultural framework to provide strength-based approaches to build the social, health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
Intensive Family Support
Our Intensive Family Support (IFS) Program is dedicated to working alongside vulnerable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to develop and implement tailored family-led plans and individualised goals.
We aim to prevent the need for child protection intervention or significantly reduce the necessity for statutory involvement, by responding early and walking alongside families through culturally safe and meaningful support.
At the heart of our approach is a commitment to empowering families to live safe, connected, and self-determined lives, free from service control. We advocate for children and families to thrive within their own communities, with the support of culture, kinship, and Country.
